Watch your raincoat sleeves

it rained today not light and soft
but buckets of hard rain
fast and strong
beautiful in many ways
a needed rain
that came our way

JENNIFER REEDY AND ME

it had some draw backs
with our rain gear grabbed
as we ran out the door
three-quarter length did not
meet requirements of the day

cold wet no place to dry
setting at an appointment
wondering how you look
and then you discover
you have left the chair
seat wet

a tip:  raingear sleeves are full they
catch on the gear shift, my advise
roll up the sleeves before you
pull away  it is safer.

Jennifer will be our new granddaughter
she will marry Grandson Eli Rains, June the 16th

Good Morning
When I was in grade school we sang a song that went like this
" GOODMORNING TO YOU, GOODMORNING TO YOU
WE ARE ALL IN OUR PLACES, WITH BRIGHT SHINNING FACES
            GOODMORNING TO YOU. "
maybe we all should try that happy song when we are rushing to get somewhere each day.
Its funny how things come to your mind, I have not thought of that little song in years.

ARTIST TIP FOR TODAY:   Never say a painting is not worth keeping, put it aside, away from view and when you look again, you will see possibilities you were not able to see before.   Put a quick mat around it.  (A quick mat is a white 4 mat board strips cut 3" wide and as long as you need them to be, they will over lap in a fashion to be able to move them in and out to see where the painting will look its best.   The best thing is sometimes it only takes a signature and its a finished painting.

I have boxes of them and I love it!   Because when you only have a few minutes and you promised yourself you would paint today, grab one out and do the magic mat test and see where you go from there.   Maybe it is only a brighter touch of paint or placement of objects.   This is another tip for later but always have your palette damp.  Each day when I go to the studio,  I raise the curtain up to let the sunshine in,  I take the spray bottle and give the paint a mist of water.  They will be waiting for you when you are ready to paint.

If you are an oil painter set the painting backwards to the wall or in a closet.  When you pull
it out, place the painting upside down and study it, walk away and when you come back you
will see what needs to be done.  Try it it works.

If you are just beginning or need to restart your creative career do it now. life is short.
